May Brown students use the Providence Public Library?

Answer

Yes, the Providence Public Library is open to all members of the Brown community. It is located in downtown Providence. You may obtain a borrowing card by bringing proof to the public library. For non-Rhode Island residents, acceptable ID includes your current Brown ID, a course schedule, or bill, PLUS proof of your Providence address, such as a piece of mail with your address on it. The card is good for one academic year and expires on May 15 or, for summer students, September 1.

Library cards from the Providence Public Library are also Ocean State Library cards and can be used at any Ocean State Library, such as the various Providence Community Libraries.
