Can I use Brown Libraries as a visitor from another institution?

Answer

The Brown Library has reciprocal agreements with some institutions. The following may obtain an access card which will allow you to use Brown Library collections on site but not necessarily borrow from them:

Those affiliated with CRIARL institutions. You must obtain a CRIARL card from your institution.

Those affiliated with Ivies+ institutions. You must bring your institutional ID card and sign in.

Those affiliated with SHARES member institutions. You must bring your institutional ID card and sign in. If you are unsure if your institution belongs to SHARES, please call our circulation department at (401) 863-2165.

Spouses, domestic partners, and children of at least high school age of current Brown students, faculty, and staff.

Current faculty, students and staff from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

Current faculty, students, and staff from Rhode Island Academic Institutions (formerly the HELIN Consortium).

At the request of the American Mathematical Society (AMS), the library will grant borrowing privileges to select AMS employees.

Current members of the RI Medical Society.
