Can I borrow an ebook through Interlibrary Loan?

Answer

We now offer the option to request eBooks through ILLiad. Because of copyright and licensing restrictions, eBook lending is more limited than physical items. Follow the steps below to improve the chances of a successful request.

✅ How to Submit a Request

  1. Confirm eBook Format
Make sure the item is listed as an eBook in WorldCat or another reliable source. The Worldcat record will say either Print Book or Ebook right below the author's name.

  1. Go to ILLiad.
Login, then choose New Request: Book and fill in the form.

  2. Include the OCLC Number or ISBN In Your ILLiad Request Form
Provide the OCLC number or ISBN specific to the eBook edition in your ILLiad form. This helps us locate the correct version. You can find one or both by clicking on the book title to look at the full record.

  3. Use the Notes Field for Preferences In Your ILLiad Request Form
Let us know how flexible you are with format:
Type "eBook format only" – if you do not want a print version if eBook is not available.
Type "Table of Contents or Chapter OK" – if you're open to receiving a chapter if we cannot get the full eBook. If so, include the specific chapter(s) you need.

  4. Add Complete Citation Details
Include the title, author, edition, publisher, and publication year.

📩 After You Submit

Watch Your Email – We may follow up with questions or to confirm alternative access options, such as temporary links or limited-use passcodes.

Know the Limits – Not all libraries can lend eBooks. Availability depends on their licensing agreements.
