Do we have access to ebooks outside of our library collections?

Answer

Not all books are available as ebooks.

You can request just a specific chapter from a book in our collection or in another library by using your ILLiad account. For books located in off-campus storage (the Annex), you can request a chapter scan through the BruKnow catalog.

You can also contact a subject librarian who can look into purchasing a digital title for the collection.

If you need immediately access, you can sometimes find the book you need on the Internet Archive. You can check out books for a limited time for free. This includes books that are still under copyright.

For books out of copyright, you may have luck using Google Books or the Hathitrust. Be sure to log into Hathitrust as a member of the Brown community in order to ensure you have full access,
