What is the Brown Library policy for off campus access service?

Answer

License agreements for most of the Library's electronic resources permit access from off campus only to current University students, faculty, and staff. Brown users must authenticate with a Brown username and password before gaining access to these licensed resources. Most of the library's electronic resources may be accessed from off campus by clicking on the database title, then logging in via Shibboleth. A few resources require use of the VPN (Virtual Private Network) desktop client, which may be downloaded from the CIS software catalog.

A list of VPN only databases may be found here.

You may also wish to install Libkey, which will give you access to Brown resources from anywhere. Please see our guide to Full Text Article Access for more information.
