Can I use images / charts / graphs in an open web presentation?

Answer

Assuming there is no monetary charge involved and the presentation is strictly for educational purposes, you have an argument in favor of including the images under fair use. The images should be used in a "transformative" way, i.e. not superfluously but as part of a scholarly conversation, resulting in a new use of this information. For more information about fair use, please see our guide to Copyright, or send an email to Fairuse@Brown.edu.
