What does 1-size (2-size, 3-size) mean in a call number?

Answer

1-size, 2-size, and 3-size (oversized) items in the Rockefeller Library are shelved in separate areas. Check the stack directories on each floor for the range location. In general, regular sized books in a call number range come first, followed by 1-size, 2-size, and 3-sized in that order.

Note: For oversized art books, there are different checkout rules:

Faculty, postdocs, and grads can check out books for normal loan periods. Undergrads may check out these books for two weeks.

RISD students may check them out for 24 hours and RISD faculty and curators for two weeks.

RISD students may check out up to 5 books at a time; RISD faculty may check out up to 25.
