How can I get access to a thesis / dissertation written at Brown?

Answer

Please see this guide from University Archives.

Note: Since 2008, all dissertations have been put into the Brown Digital Repository (BDR) and are searchable there or in BruKnowThe graduate school allows for students to request that their thesis or dissertation be embargoed for two years, renewable five times for a total of ten years. The embargo applies to non-Brown users, but Brown authenticated users may still see them.

Not all senior Honors theses have been deposited in the library. Departments should have a copy if we don't. All those in the BDR are available to researchers worldwide unless the student has placed a restriction on it. VISA honors theses are accessible only by VISA faculty, staff, and concentrators. You will need to log in and be among this group in order to see them.

Researchers may submit a reproduction request(s) in our online research system (Aeon).  You do not need to be affiliated with Brown University to have a researcher account.  Reproductions are for research purposes.
